Rose Ann Fraser Ritchie served as lead of the steering group and a Director at the Scottish Writers' Centre based in Glasgow and was a committee and board member for the Federation of Writers (Scotland) for six years. Promoting events and networking nationally and internationally. Rose loves writing poetry everywhere and anywhere experimenting with different forms. She enjoys performance poetry and was an active performance poet with Women With Fierce Words founded by Glaswegian writer and friend Lesley Traynor. Over many years she has lead a poetry event for World Community Arts Day in Craigmillar, Edinburgh founded by the Great Tapestry artist Andrew Crummy. She is also an accomplished film extra. Rose has appeared on screen for BBC dramas and appeared in films. Her love of dance and singing including lyrical poetry which adds to her work as a performing artist. “I like working with artists and I have written poems that accompany art and sculptures. My poem ‘Wojtek’ the hero Polish bear was the official poem for the unveiling of the statue in Princes Street Gardens, Edinburgh, Scotland by the Wojtek Memorial Trust. Her poems have been published in various anthologies such as Blind Poetics, Women With Fierce Words, Dove Tales, Listen Softly, Poetry Scotland and a Kist of Thistles. During lockdown on the 1st July 2020 Rose helped Jim Aitken the Editor from Culture Matters with the launch of this book which includes leading Scottish poets. Rose also creates film poems and she was asked to perform her poem 'Breathe' at the Edinburgh International Book Festival along with the choir the Cheyne Gang for the student run Proteus project. She helped set up ICUsteps Edinburgh. It is for patient survivors of critical care. She is a thriver now after recovering in 2013 from sepsis and she believes passionately that the arts in many forms are brilliant for your mental and physical well being. She has volunteered in the community for writing groups for many years including Inky Fingers Edinburgh and at The Thistle Foundation, Craigmillar, Edinburgh and in the foyer of the Traverse Theatre and has performed outside the Scottish Parliament with her friends from Women With Fierce Words. Rose also served as a volunteer at the Women Writers Committee for Scottish PEN and played an integral part in the planning for the Craigmillar & Niddrie Community Festival 2021. Rose believes poetry is great for mental health, mindfulness and wellbeing. She is a proud international mother and grandmother. Also in 2021 Rose was delighted to be in several anthologies with Dreich and To Whom it May Concern from the FWS edited by author A C Clarke. The first anthology of 2022 saw Rose's poem 'Silent Killers' included in the anthology for Dove Tales 'mourning our planet' about futile wars and climate change. Rose is currently on the Board of Dove Tales and ran a creative writing group every Wednesday afternoon in her local community at Bridgend Farmhouse after being awarded an Acorn fund and developed a community anthology for the Year of Stories 2022 with a collaborative anthology published by Dreich 'Stories of Bridgend'. Rose enjoys the challenge each April of taking part in NaPoWriMo by writing a poem every day and is delighted now to be a part of the exciting Amazon Kindle family.
